Tudor Gate Hinges
Tudor Gate Hinges are ideal for gates, shed doors & barn conversions. These traditional black cast iron T hinges (also called strap hinges) offer an authentic period look for your home. The strap part of the outdoor hinge has a rounded arrow end motif which co-ordinates well with the other items in our Garden Gate Furniture Collection.
The Gate Hinges are made from cast iron which has undergone a zinc phosphating process and coated with a black powder finish. This hardwearing coating is UV and rust resistant and the hinges are supplied as a pair with stainless steel screws.
Tip: To help you choose the right size, the strap part of the hinge should ideally cover between half and two thirds the width of the gate. For example a 30 inch width gate would be best fitted with the 18 inch gate hinges.
Note: Not suitable for coastal locations.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Cast iron is a ferrous metal. The black coating on the latch offers rust protection, however oxidisation will occur in places where the coating becomes worn or damaged, especially around moving parts and screw holes. Before fitting and for ongoing maintenance, it helps to apply a light oil onto the moving parts to prevent corrosion. See our blog article How To Remove Rust Spots.
